My Production Experience

This week for our production we performed Oliver with a Twist. In the story Oliver Twist is a kind-hearted orphan who escapes a cruel workhouse in Victorian England and is forced into a gang of juvenile pickpockets led by the notorious Fagin and the menacing Bill Sikes. After falling into the hands of a series of criminals and facing various hardships, Oliver eventually discovers the secrets of his mysterious parentage and finds his true family.

We performed 4 times and I went to 3 of them, and every time I did a different part. The first show I was in the dance for the song Stay Crafty. The second time I was backstage, bringing on and off props and changing the scene. And the last time I did the lights with Mr Trewin. My favourite thing I did was the lights by far and being backstage was a second.

Overall I think the production was pretty cool but I would’ve liked it to be a different story like Shrek or The Grinch. The stage, music, and lights were all pretty cool as well, and the show was all sold out so the parents must’ve liked it.

Did you have a speaking part in the production? What was it?

St Johns Visit to St Francis

Today Nikki from St Johns medical centre came to Totara Hub to speak about first aid.

She taught us what to do in different situations like if someone was unconscious, having a heart attack, had an open wound, etc. She taught us how to do CPR, how to bandage up a wound and how to flip someone onto their side if they are unconscious. She also talked about what to do if someone was choking on something and how to get the food unstuck. She spoke about different scenarios and what to do if we found ourselves in one of them. This was a great learning experience because it will help make sure that when we are older or even now we know what to do if someone is in trouble.

What was your favourite part about the visit?

Ryder’s Party

During the holidays Ryder turned 13 and so he had a birthday party. It was in ferrymead and we did paint ball and driving range, which was very fun. There was 4 rounds of paint ball, 3 of them were  capture the flag and the other 1 was no flag or anything just shooting one another, which was the worst because you got hit way more.  My team won capture the flag, we managed to capture it twice while the other team only got it once. After we finished we went back into the party room and had some pizza and chips and then we headed off to the driving range. I made a personal best managing to drive 185 – 190 without the ball rolling. Noah drove 180 – 185, I have no idea how much anyone else got. We had unlimited balls for 30 mins and 4 stations. Ryders party was a great time!

What I Want To Be When I grow Up

When I grow up I want to own a business man and be rich just like Elon musk.  I want to do this because even though people say money doesn’t make you happy I’m pretty sure that money can buy you a jet ski and I’ve never seen a person riding a jet ski being sad. Also money can make your life much easier because you dont need to worry about he cost of living because your stacked. Plus I can donate some of my money to charity to help other people. Plus I can buy myself a squash court inside my house.

I want to completely accomplish this when I am about half way through my 30s because in my 20s I want to travel the world and see new and very cool things and when I’m in my 30s and done travelling I cant start to work on making a buisness and growing it to be known world wide.

I’m going to do this by making sure I go to the right high school and university to get the best education I can so I know what I will need to do. Then once I’m ready to start making my business I am going to travel somewhere in the USA where they get paid and develop my business more and more. I will stay there for 5 to 10 years maybe more it depends how long it takes for my business to become successful and once I have got money I will come back to NZ and convert my money into NZ dollars. And doing that will almost double my money. 100 USA dollars is equal to 178.30 NZ dollars. I will sell my buisness and retire and have a great rest of my life

PS: This is just what I want to be when I’m older but probably not what will happen 😂

Athletics Day

Hi welcome back to my blog.

In week 1 we had athletics day. The events we did were 80 metre sprints, 100 metres sprints, 1500 long distance, high jump, long jump, shot put and discus. I only placed in discus and I got first place. Then we had zones and I also got first for that. I threw around 21 metres for school athletics and threw 23.84 metres in zones. I haven’t been t centrals yet but I’m hoping to get top three so I can be in the hall of Fame for school.

What did you get into zones for or centrals for in athletics?

If you didn’t get in for anything then what was your favourite event in athletics?

Why Squash Should be Back in the Olympics

Hi and welcome back to my blog. This week for reading we had to pick a sport that wasn’t in the Olympics and write a fake letter to the creators of the Olympic games why that sport should come back into the Olympcis. I decided on the sport squash, my favourite sport. I 100% think that squash should be added back into the Olympics.

If you don’t know what squash is that’s ok. Squash is a racket sport that is played in a four-walled court between two players, or four in doubles competition. It is similar in many ways to racquetball, with players taking turns striking the ball to playable areas on the walls in hopes of securing a point when their opponent is unable to return the ball.

Here is my letter that I wrote to the Olympic game creators.

Dear Olympics creators, this letter is to tell you why I believe squash should come back into the Olympics. I believe squash is a great sport for being quick on your feet and having good hand eye coordination. Even though squash is a single player sport you still get to meet new people, if it’s the people that you are versing or the people who are watching you. I know that not many people  play squash compared to other sports but I believe that if it got added back into the Olympics their population would grow fast. Squash is hard to watch live anywhere else so it would also be cool to be able to watch the best of the best squash players play one another. Squash is basically a cheat code for exercise. Normally exercise is hard and not that fun but in squash you get to run around, using your legs, hit the ball as hard as you want or can, using your arms and doing all of that is fun. I know a lot of people who are awesome at squash and who have always wanted to be a professional squash player but haven’t quite made it. With the olympics squash players would be more recognized and it would be slightly easier for them to make their dream come true. If squash was in the Olympics it would also be easier for people to know and figure out who is best in the world, because it would most likely be the winner of the squash tournament in the olympics.

I hope my letter has helped persuade you to add back squash into the Olympics and has given you a wider understanding of what squash can actually do.

I hope you liked my blog post and learned something about squash!!

What is your favourite sport and what sport did you try to persuade the Olympic game creators to add back in?

The True Story of The Big Bad Wolf

Hi and welcome back. This week for writing we had to write a fractured fairy tale. I did my fairy tale on the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. I wrote it on from th wolfs point of view and not the pigs because it is only fiar if everyone gets a say.

Here is my story.

The True Story of The Big Bad Wolf

Hi, it’s me, wolf. You all know me from the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. I need to tell you something, I AM NOT THE BAD GUY!! You see, one morning I was at my desk in my cottage which is isolated from everywhere else, and I was working on a card that I was going to give to my Mother because it was her 50th birthday. I was writing in the card and my quill ran out of ink so I dipped it back in but there was no ink left. I went around my whole house looking for some ink but there was none anywhere. I decided to go on a bit of a walk over into town and see if there was anyone that could help me.

I walked on and on and I was just about to give up when I found a house made of straw. I knocked on the door and my hand went right through it. Who is silly enough to build a house out of straw, am I right? Anyway, no one answered so I poked my head through the door and called, “hello is anyone home.” Then a pig started snorting and running around the house and then he burst through the wall and ran away. I followed after him and called little pig little pig please come here. He didn’t stop and he ran right into a house made out of sticks. I went and knocked on the door and when nobody answered I said, “little pig I know you’re in there please come out and talk to me.” Then both of the pigs came running out the door and stomped all over me and ran away.

I went after both of them because I really really really needed some ink. I chased them and chased them and finally I got to a house made from bricks. I knocked on the door and said little pigs little pigs please come out. There was no answer but I was determined to get some ink so I went round to the window to see if I could see the pigs. When I found the window I went up to it but then the sun reflected off the window and then I felt a big big big sneeze coming on. I frantically tried to cover up my mouth and nose but nothing worked and so I sneezed a humongous sneeze.

I went flying up and up and landed on the roof. I decided I would try to get in through the chimney and so I started climbing down. I accidentally slipped and fell into a gigantic pot that was filled with boiling hot water. I screamed and yelped and splashed about and finally got out of that pot. When I asked why they had done that to me they just told me to go away and that they didn’t want to see me because I was a bad person. Then when I was walking back down a shingle path some cops came up to me and told me to get into the car. I asked them what had happened but they wouldn’t tell me anything, so I got in their car and they took me to jail and sentenced me to 20 years in prison. I tried to tell them what actually happened but they didn’t believe me.

And that my friends is how the other fake story of the three little pigs and the big bad wolf came out.

Did you like my story? I hope you did!!

What was your story about?

My Outstanding RE Laudata Si Word Search Create

Last week for RE we were learning about the Laudata Si. The Laudata Si is a letter from Pope Francis telling us that we need to take care of our common home. In the letter Pope Francis told us that the world had too much pollution in the world and that we need to stop polluting our world. He also said that we needed to stop burning coal for electricity and use other things like solar panels, wind turbines and hydro dams because every piece of coal burnt makes climate change worse. He said that we needed to stop buying so  many things and then throw them away, instead use recyclable things.

For the create we had three options:

  1. Redisgn St Francis as an Eco-School
  2. Create a Poster
  3. Create Your Own Word Search

I chose the Word Search option. The link to the Word Search is down below.

All I Know About Cats

For Writing this week we had to make a google doc, pick an animal, and write everything we knew about that animal. I have a cat at home so I know a lot about them, thats why I picked the cat.

Do you have a cat or are you a dog person?

Here is my writing

All I Know About Cat’s

Cats are very cool animals. Unlike dogs they are around the same size as one another unless they are kittens (babies). They can jump and climb over things, using their claws and back legs. They are very playful but sadly it’s very hard to teach them tricks. Fun Fact! Cats purr for lot’s of different reasons, they purr when they are happy, they purr when they are sad, they also purr when they are hurt and it helps them heal themselves. There are other reasons as well.

Cats are very good at hearing and seeing things which helps them a lot when they try to catch birds, mice or other animals. Cat’s are in the same family as lions, cheetahs and leopards. There are also other types of animals in the cat family as well. If you think about it, cats and lions, cheetahs and leopards have a lot in common. That is one reason why they are in the same family.

If you see a wild cat and think that you could take it home because it’s just like you cat I’m sorry but you are mistaken. Wild cats have lived in the wild for a long time and would try to kill you and all the other living things in your household unlike your own cat. This is because out in the wild they needed to catch and kill things to get food and if something big came up to you then they would have to attack them so they wouldn’t die. So if you wanted to get a wild cat you wouldn’t be very happy.

I hoped you learned somethign from reading my blog post.

What animal did you pick?

My Excellent Gospel Create

Hi it’s Josh, welcome back to my blog.

This week for Gospel we got given some questions and had to pick 3 of them to do. I picked: How do we receive the Holy Spirit today? Why does Jesus talk to his friends about forgiveness? And what do you think Jesus wants us to do?

If you had to answer the 3 questions I picked, what would your answers be?

The answers I put are on my slideshow below.
